..........DAY OF EVENT (October 9):
SET-UP/CLEAN-UP
....SET-UP/CLEAN-UP march assembly site (9:30 AM - 11:00 AM
at South Park Block "F" between Market and Clay):
We especially need help if you are technically competent and can help us set up
and take down the sound system and stage canopies (take-down is where help is
most needed).... you will have to miss the march, but likely can make it to the
teach-in.
We may also need help organizing tables and cleaning up the park.
....SET/-UP CLEAN-UP teach in site (12:30 PM-1:15 PM and 3:30 PM-4:15 PM?):
We will need two or three people to help set up the tabling area and put up
signage at Portland State University. This means you will have to miss the
march.
..PEACEKEEPERS/STAGE SECURITY (10:30 AM to 1:15 PM):
"Peacekeepers" are folks we ask to help us keep the flow of traffic moving
smoothly to ensure a safe and efficient rally and March. If you have been
previously trained in the tactics of nonviolence and de-escalation and would
like to volunteer for this again, please let us know, email iraq @
pjw.info , or
contact head peacekeeper Joe Keating at 503-234-2613.
We only need about 10 people for this event.
There will be one training on Wednesday, October 6 at 7 PM in SE Portland--please RSVP
to confirm your spot!
On Rally and March day (Saturday, October 9) peacekeepers will gather at South
Park Block "F" between Market and Clay likely at 10:30 AM. We will station a
few folks near the stage area as security.
Dress warmly, prepare for rain. Bring a sack lunch, a bottle of water, and your
cell phone if you have one. Expect to be "on duty" at least until 1:15 PM when
the march is expected to end.
..FUNDRAISERS (11:00 AM to 11:45 AM and 12:45 PM to 1:00 PM):
We need people to help us collect donations at the beginning and end of
the march. If you are interested please RSVP to Peace and Justice Works at
503-236-3605.
