CAMPAIGN TO GET PORTLAND OUT OF JOINT TERRORISM TASK FORCE TO ADDRESS COUNCIL WEDNESDAY
This coming Wednesday, October 7, five people will be speaking during the Communications slots at City Council at 9:30 AM to request that Portland Police end all cooperation with the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force.
Particularly now, when the City is locked in a confrontation about the federal deputization of 56 officers, it is an important time to revisit this issue.
The people are involved in the Campaign which, in its most recent iteration, began in 2017 and led to the removal of two part-time officers in February 2019. A letter signed by 27 organizations and two individuals went to Council on September 8.

The five people signed up are:
Marleen Wallingford, Portland JACL (Japanese American Citizens League)
Brandon Mayfield (survivor of illegal FBI spying)
Brian King, Portland Democratic Socialists of America
Seemab Hussaini, Council on American Islamic Relations of Oregon
Pastor Lynne Smouse Lopez, Ainsworth United Church of Christ
An updated version of the letter with additional signatures will be made available before Wednesday.
